The years 1974 through 1979 are recognized as the “Years of Struggle”, and Phase II of the vision. Advancing into those years of struggle was sometimes discouraging, but Pastor Drinkwater and the members were too determined, too dedicated, and too faithful to concede to defeat. Redeemed united in prayer and fasting once again, and in 1977, the Holy Spirit directed Pastor Drinkwater to call the Church into prayer for remodeling and making an addition to the existing building. Also, on August 6, 1977, Bro Charles McCarroll preached his first sermon. On November 8, 1978, Bro. James Pullen announced his Calling to the Ministry and preached his first sermon on December 24, 1978.
In 1978, the Church had plans drawn up by an architect, and received bids from various contractors. The members made pledges and prepared for the remodeling and addition to the building. Work on the Church began in March 1979. All worship services including: Noon Day Prayer, Early Friday Morning Prayer, Auxiliary Meetings, and Prayer Meetings continued while the Church was under construction.
On January 25, 1980, the remodeling had been completed. December 17, 1980, Anthony Griffis, Jessie Broussard, and Leon Marshall were ordained as Deacons. One year later, by the grace of God, the Church paid off its mortgage seven years early and saved $22,000.00 in interest.
